kind of off topic but just a thought....
i have noticed that most people to communicate online with others use a message system or a diff prprotocolwhere email was once king of this i find it use to be going more to bubusinessool. very few people i talk to use email as there main way of cocommunicatingther than for work related things. am i just crazy or do others notice this?

Most people I know live in ICQ or MSN relays. Those who are not on 24/7/365 resort to E-Mails.
ReallyI figure it is more age related. It is easier to teach GrandMa E-Mail, and it is easier to resign talking to kids in the "BratRooms". I love ICQ for transferring files though...
ME, I'll use any media that people will tolerate me on, and I hate the phone, sooooo.... |

I think email is a great communications tool in alot of respects. However it is overrun by spam these days and without some work email is very annoying. I think they other major problem are computer viruses as well. Even though they really have nothing to do with email and are basicly the fault of Out-Look, they probably contribute to a large reason why people don't use it as much.
And the fact that email isn't "instant one on one" chat. I personally think irc is a much better form of instant chat than icq and all that crap but then again, thats just me.
But anyways, to the main point... I use email religiously at work, and as you note, not that much outside of work. But I think thats because most people I communicate with outside of work don't use email |

i can understand the point about teaching older generations email is allot simpler than anything else.. but if it is setup right i think they can handle it. for example i setup icq on my moms box so that i didn't have to use the phone to talk to her and now it is just always there and she knows just to click on my nick and type a message. this works allot better than phone i find, the only down side being if you send that im to your mom rather than the random person you are talking to about the joys of sex and drug abuse by mistake.
