gftp and other ftp

alright kinda have a odd problem i cant seem to track down what end the problem is on.

if i use ftp or ncftp to connect to a remote ftp server it works fine no problems.

but if i try and use gftp it comes back

227 Entering Passive Mode (xxx,xxx,x,xxx,137,236)
Cannot create a data connection: Connection refused
Disconnecting from site xx.xxx.xx.xx

replace x's with ip addresses

now i dont know if this has anything to do with the ftp server or if it is the gateway i am going through or if it is my workstation, but i only have a problem with gftp so it is not making any sense to me?

nm figured it out the server i am connecting to does not support passive mode. i think i need to find one that does!
