Debian Woody Moved To Archives

Debian released a news to inform any users still running Debian Woody that it has now been archived. Woody was released on 07/19/2002, and was replaced by Sarge on 06/06/2005. I don’t know anyone still running this, but for anyone that is your security updates have ended and you better start the upgrade process.

Debian Drops 2.4 Kernel for Etch

Debian has removed all 2.4 kernels and kernel images for the release of Debian GNU/Linux Etch. The idea is that Etch will only support 2.6 kernels and “User Compiled” 2.4 kernels.

Debian Etch Frozen

The next stable release of Debian has been frozen.
What this means to anyone who does not know, is that any updates to the system must be hand approved in order to enter. This will eventually lead to the release of Debian Etch being the official Debian Stable Release.
